Then, you will have to go in and manually make changes to get the second AirPort to match the first.įrankly, it would be faster and easier to simply reset the second AirPort and then set it up again. If you don't want to reset the second AirPort, you might be able to get at the settings to change them to match the first AirPort if your Mac has an Ethernet port and you connect to one of the LAN ports on the second AirPort. You changed the first router, so you need to start over on the second and reset it back to factory default settings, then set it up again and it will pick up the correct settings from the first AirPort. Realize this is a lot.Īfter saving, should I unplug the second router, assure it is in rage of the primary and attempt to reestablish the connection? If the connection is reestablished, I now have different names for the two bands. When I attempt to connect new wireless devices to the Network, will I now have the ability to connect devices to the targeted Network and if the device is out of range of the 5ghz Network, will it automatically move to the 2.4ghz. Question: After saving, should I unplug the second router, assure it is in rage of the primary and attempt to reestablish the connection? If the connection is reestablished, I now have different names for the two bands. The system could not see it in the Airport utility either. however the second router failed to reinitialize. After saving and after the system updated, the main router (connected to the modem) went from amber to green. In an attempt to add a security camera that will only connect on 2.4ghz, I followed the steps to create a separate 5ghz SSID by checking the box and renaming the band. I have two airport extremes that are working fine under one SSID they have a wireless connection. I'm aware this is an old post but I have a similar problem.
